Since classes began in early September, students have raved about the openness, light and welcoming feel of the new library. Faculty also make their way to the library to spread out on the large tables and enjoy the expansive views. The electricians have begun deconstruction and rewiring in the old library workroom. The ceiling has been removed in Brent Koehn's former work area and temporary lights have been installed. The AMBS Bookstore officially opened in its new facility in order to serve the participants of the Bridgefolk Catholic-Mennonite Conference July 26 - 29. On Thursday, June 21, Gary Clarin of Meilahn Manufacturing brought a sample of the custom tables that are being built for the library. On Saturday, June 9, Eileen Saner moved rare and fragile books from the storage room across from the library photocopier to the special collections room in the new library. Some uncataloged Studer Bibles were moved into the glass case by Ted Koontz's office. In early June, Lois Longenecker and Joe Smith (summer crew) emptied the glass cases in the north hallway. Don Steider, Matt Tschetter and Joe moved the cabinets down the old library stairwell and into the east room of the new library basement storage area. In late May the bookstore staff moved nonessential books into the store in the new building. Until the end of June, the bookstore will provide full services from only one room in the south hall adjacent to the Chapel of the Word. Renovations of Waltner Hall will begin in late June when workers from DJ Construction cut a window in the east room of the old bookstore so that it can be renovated
